MODULE 1
PRACTICE STRATEGIES
This module includes instructional videos on:
- Breathing
- Tone
- Technique/tonguing
- rhythmÂ
There is a separate module for flute, saxophone, clarinet and oboe! Doublers get access to EVERYTHING.
MODULE 2
MUSIC THEORY
The secret to sight-reading. Truly, you don't want to miss out on this unit! We cover:
- Intervals
- phrase structure (know where to breathe!)
- debunking complicated time signatures and key signatures
MODULE 3
EAR-TRAINING AND IMPROV
Is your music in major or minor? Are you in tune? How to tune with others around you? We cover it all!
- How to Improvise 101
- Learn chords and jazz scales
- Play fun new pieces with guidance

Your course creators AND teachers!! Amanda plays flute, Ana plays clarinet and saxophone. Our oboe faculty Casey Kearney is not pictured, but she plays in the Louisiana Philharmonic and is epic!!
We met while studying music performance at the Oberlin Conservatory.
And during the COVID pandemic, we founded Virtual Woodwind Academy as a way for adults to continue learning online. It has since grown into a vibrant community, with woodwind learners from all over the United States and Canada joining our program! We've worked with hundreds of community bands and truly believe that you can learn and master an instrument at any age. Â
